Iker Karrera
About Iker
Iker began to develop as a dancer from a very young age by attending jazz and hip hop classes in his hometown, Hondarribia. Since then, his evolution as a dancer has led him to share stages with renowned singers and dancers both within and outside Spanish borders.
In his role as a choreographer, Iker founded his own dance company in 2016. Particularly noteworthy is his piece #7fm, which has been awarded nationally and internationally and has been performed in major European capitals and at numerous festivals such as the Battery Dance Festival in New York.

"No pleasure" has been his most ambitious production; the piece has been part of the Danza a Escena 2021 circuit and has been performed in theatres throughout the national territory.
At the end of 2022, Iker choreographed his new short piece, "Table for one," with the American company L.A. Contemporary Dance Company. Thanks to the Spain dances program of the Department of Culture of the Spanish Embassy in Washington DC, Iker successfully completed his first creative residency in Los Angeles, California.
In cinema, he choreographed the musical film "Voy a pasármelo bien," directed by David Serrano, and in theatre, he also choreographed the musicals "Mamma Mia!" (winner of the Musical Theater Award for best choreography) and "The Book Of Mormon," produced by SOM Produce and premiered at the Teatro Rialto and Teatro Calderón in Madrid.
In advertising, his choreography for "Haunted by Love" for Vogue Spain was awarded at the La Jolla International Film Festival in California and at the Canadian International Fashion Film Festival as best choreography. Additionally, his video dance "heartache" won the Special Jury Prize at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival.
In 2018, he was part of the revamped television format "Fama ¡a bailar!," initially as a teacher and, in the last edition, as director.
He has also worked with Oscar winners AR.Rahman and Shekhar Khapur, choreographing the musical "Why? The musical" at ExpoDubai 2020.
As a teacher, Iker has taught contemporary dance and jazz funk classes all over the world in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, London, Mexico City, Paris, Rome, Naples, Prague, and Brussels, among others. He has been a guest teacher at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza María de Ávila and at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Fortea.
With over 15 years of teaching experience, Iker decided to create his own school and artistic project, 180, motivated by his firm belief in the transformative power of dance and its ability to connect and inspire people.
Since 2020, together with Fernando Lázaro, he has also been responsible for the academic direction of the official studies at the Som Academy School of Performing Arts.
He has just received the XVIII Gipuzkoa Dance Award for his entire career, and in the meantime, Iker combines directing his own school with choreographing and directing the new pieces of his company.
